Are you getting the vaccine for this? Heidi asked me in the comment section if I was going to and I really don’t think I am. Yes, we do have little kids but we also eat very well, get regular exercise and in general are very healthy. I normally do not get the flu shot, Joe never does, Mikayla has had it a couple of times and Lily has only received it once. Also, the girls and I have never had the flu and Joe had it a couple of times as a kid (but he was living in New Jersey – awful air and water quality.) I think it we stay on top of things, lots of healthy food, lots of exercise and play time, and lots of vitamins we will be fine. I might re-think this is I hear of H1N1 cases at the preschool.
As I write this I am sure my mom is going to say something. Especially since my brother in law Josh has it.

It is crazy around here - I know a handful of people who have it. I stood in line for 5 1/2 hours to get Charley as shot on Saturday - when they ran out of the shot about 25 people before me. Now we are on a wait list, but who knows if they will ever call. Charley has a pretty low risk of getting it, since she doesn't go to a 'formal' day care - though the kids of the people she does stay with do. So who knows. I'd rather her have the shot then not, b/c if she got it and was really sick I'd feel terrible. If we didn't live near/in a larger city and have such big interactions with other kids (parks, jump houses etc) I might not...but I'm trying!
I am still trying to decide what to do, I don't like what I have heard about a small amount of thimerasol being in most of the H1N1 vaccines, and also the fact that it is new, but my 5 year old is in Kindergarten with 32 kids! She only goes 2 & 1/2 hrs. Mon.-Fri. but still, that is a lot of kids to be around, and also Las Vegas is of course a huge city. (I also have a 19 month old son.) They did have some vaccines here for pregnant women and kids from 6 months to age 4 yrs. but they ran out quickly. At this point I am thinking to get it for us when more is available. My daughter and I both got the regular flu pretty bad last year right at Christmas time so I guess we will get regular flu shot too this year, still not available at the base hosp. until next week.
Yes, your Mom has something to say! This flu kills young people with no health problems. Being healthy is no guarentee you will not get it. If you are under 50, get the shot! I work at the doctor's office and we have seen a ton of people with it. I got my H1N1 shot yesterday, and no problems at all. If you have nausea, diahrrea and then get a fever and body aches, call your doctor immediately. If you start Tamiflu the first or second day it will help, if later than that, it will not help at all. I would not take the Mist, because that is a live virus, but a shot is a dead virus. Protect your kids.
