Here is one reason I am glad we moved out of the old house and into our new old red house. The yard. The backyard at the white house was dirt and this is what happens when you give a 4 year old and a 1 year old a dirt back yard.

I am a full time working mom to two adorable little girls, one is 6 and the other is 3. In addition to loving being a mom I also enjoy hiking, mountain biking, trail running, and yoga.

This is the view from our bedroom, down the living room and into the kitchen. (Notice Skylar still sitting there. I told her to sit and stay and she did - for quite awhile.)
Here are a couple pictures of parts of our yard.

She hardly rides it and says she has trouble peddling it.

As I was looking for the bike trailer above for Mikayla I found this for Lily:
I would love to have the bike setup with Mikayla on the back and Lily in the front.
Or this puzzle. We have an undersea puzzle like this and love it.
I do have to decided very quickly what I am going to get for her birthday because it is next Thursday! Oh boy - what am I going to do.
I was browsing the Internet the other day and came across this article with this picture. I was so disgusted. Not only does she look like her average daily calorie intake is oh about 100 calories a day but she looks like a perfect actress for a WW2 movie about the Jews in a concentration camp and to believe that she is Miss Australia. She needs to check into a health clinic and put on about 20 plus pounds! This is not the type of role model I want my daughter to see.
It is very common in women because most women wear high heel and narrow shoes. That does not apply to me. I have a couple of pairs of shoes with maybe a 2 inch heal but only one pair is narrow. My shoes of choice are very comfortable, roomy and flat. It is the running that caused it. The doctor I saw this time is Gloria Beim. She wrote The Female Athlete's Body Book, she has been the team doctor for the US Cycling Team as well as the US Olympic Team. (She knows her stuff!)
Dr. Beims says I have two, one is where it is on the picture and a smaller one is developing on the other side of the same bone towards the outside of my foot. She knows I really want to run a marathon and get active as quick as possible so she is treating me aggressively. She gave me a cortisone shot today and I see the physical therapist tomorrow. She said to stop doing anything at that hurts (but I can still ride my bike to work since it is .75 of a mile each way). Dr. Beim said in about 1 week to try running a short distance and see how it feels. If it hurts, stop if it feels good then the next day try to go a little further.
Dr. Beim also said that I might need 2 or 3 shorts of the cortisone and the worse case scenario would be surgery to remove the nerve all together. For now I think I will hit the pool instead of the road and the trail - at least for the next week.

I am having trouble finding the time to blog lately. I spend my day on the computer at work and when I get home the last thing I want to do is get on the computer some more. I do miss blogging but even now I am at a loss as to what to write about. I also really want to get caught up on everyone’s blogs but I just haven’t. I'm sorry.
I have been running. I did 6 miles the other day and I also decided to try the hill behind the local collage. I wanted to see how dry it was. Well – let’s just say that it needs to dry out some more! I had to give Skylar a bath because she was so muddy afterwards and I had mud up to my knees! It is time to start making sure I am getting in 4 runs a week.
Another thing I noticed today was the my diet does affect my running. I had a breakfast burrito and then some jelly beans and then some chips. At lunch today I was going to head out for a 5 mile run. I did 2 miles and I was not into it. I hit a wall. So I walked did my lunges and squats and then I ran another mile back to work – at this point I was finally feeling better. No more junk food before a run anymore!
This weekend Joe went back to New Jersey to visit his family. I am going to see if I can get a friend to watch the girls for a couple of hours on Sunday so I can go for a long run. There is a local race that is a 25K Trail Run (15.5 miles). It is on May 23rd at Hartman Rocks. It will be close as it if I am ready for it or not but for now I am keeping it in the back of my mind.
I absolutely love Yankee Candles. It is a good thing that the closest Yankee Candle Store is at least 3 hours away because if it was closer I would be spending way too much money there. In general I love all candles that smell like flowers, Gardenia and Lily of the Valley are my absolute favorite (and no I did not name Lily for the Lily Candle!)
I have blogged here and here about Body Balance and how much I love it and how much healthier and more energy I have because I am taking it. So I won't bore you with details but I love the stuff and I think everyone should try it. Send me an email if you want to try it to!

I loved it and I bought the big set which includes a daily cleanser, day solution (with SPF 25) and night solution, eye cream, moisturizer, and microdermabrasion set. In about a week I had noticed that my skin was not as red anymore and my skin color seems more even. I love it and I truly think it was money will spent. It was about $200 for the set and it seems as if most of the products will last at least 4 months or longer.
If you are looking for anti aging skin care products I would highly recommend these. Give your Mary Kay lady a call.
What are your favorite skin care products?
My first favorite thing is my Garmin 305 Forerunner. I never leave home for a run or a walk without it. I love how as soon as I turn it on it will tell me how far I have run, what my current pace is, what my overall pace is and my current heart rate is. The current is what I use the most to make sure I am running at the pace I want to be. With one quick look I can tell if I need to speed up, slow down or stay at the same pace.Well this was going great until Friday when I got laid off. I was suppose to go for an hour long run at lunch and I eventually went for a run but only 2 miles - I just was not feeling up to it and I did not do any running this weekend.
But today is a new week and I am starting it up again. I lost 2.5 pounds last week but my weight varies from 144 to 141.5 so it was not a big shock.
This week and I once again writing down what I eat and planning my food for the day and I also plan to get a lot of working out in, since I have no job why not exercise!
I have to admit though my arms are sore. We went to the rec center with the girls yesterday and I decided to do some rock climbing. I only climb for about 15 minutes but I sore! Well - off to my strength workout.
Grate bar of soap and add to saucepan with water. Stir continually over medium-low heat until soap dissolves and is melted.
Fill a five-gallon bucket half full of hot tap water. Add melted soap, washing soda and Borax. Stir well until all powder is dissolved. Fill bucket to top with more hot water. Stir, cover and let sit overnight to thicken.
Stir and fill a used, clean, laundry soap dispenser half full with soap and then fill rest of way with water. Shake before each use. (It will gel.)
Optional: You can add 10-15 drops of essential oil per two gallons. Add once soap has cooled. Ideas: lavender, rosemary, tea tree oil.
Yield: Liquid soap recipe makes 10 gallons. Top-load machine: 5/8 cup per load (approximately 180 loads). Front-load machine: ¼ cup per load (approx. 640 loads).
I talked with my mom about this because she had recently made her own laundry soap as well. She noticed that she was having to pre-treat some minor stains more often with her homemade laundry soap than with the store bought. With that I mind I added one container of regular store bought laundry detergent (Arm and Hammer) to the recipe to give it some added strength and that seems to have worked. I have not had any problems with the recipe. And I have a ton of it and I have no idea when it will run out!
